Why choose tuigsear?
The term “tuigsear” (pronounced: toog-shir), — which means “one who understands” or “connoisseur” — feels particularly apt when it comes to appreciating a fine Scotch whisky and is especially resonant when considering the experience of a whisky tour throughout the Highlands and Speyside. As a learner of Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig), I'm still building my vocabulary and understanding of the language. While I'm not yet fluent, I enjoy incorporating the rich language and culture into my whisky experiences whenever I can.
Now a bit about me, I'm Liam, a proud native of the Scottish Highlands and a dedicated tour guide with over six years of experience. My love for this breath-taking region began in childhood, growing up surrounded by its majestic landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture.
With family connections across the Highlands dating back over many centuries, I have an intimate understanding of this land's hidden gems and stories. My passion for whisky, a cornerstone of our culture, was deepened during two transformative years working as a tour guide at a local distillery. This experience gave me a unique insider's perspective, making me a true whisky connoisseur, not just a guide.
I specialize in high-end whisky tours, offering guests a journey through the finest distilleries the Highlands and Speyside have to offer. My tours are more than just tastings—they're an immersive experience that educates and delights, ensuring that even novices leave feeling like connoisseurs.
Whether we're exploring historic sites or enjoying a quiet dram by a serene loch, I strive to provide an unforgettable experience that showcases the true spirit of the Highlands. I invite you to join me on this journey and discover the magic of our land. Let's share a dram and a story.
